The big surprise in the ATP 100 MIami Masters is a fact now! The №1 seeded Roger Federer was kicked out from the tournament, being beaten by the Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis, who entered the main draw after participating in the qualifiers.

The world number one had a rest in the first round, but in the second things didn’t go his way. The legendary Swiss shockingly lost against Thanasi Kokkinakis, suffering a defeat in three sets – 6-3 3-6 6-7(4). Federer was a shadow of himself, allowing the unknown Kokkinakis to celebrate the biggest win of his career.

The Swiss was a heavy favourite to win the competition, but now he will have to go home and think about what he has done wrong to allow this happening.

Thanasi Kokkinakis had to play in the qualifiers in order to enter the main draw in Miami. In the first round the Australian faced the Frenchman Calvin Hemery, beating him in a merciless way – 6-1 6-2. But nobody expected that he’s going to beat the legendary Roger Federer.

In the third round Thanasi Kokkinakis will face another very experienced player – Fernando Verdasco. The Spaniard enjoyed a win in three sets over his countryman Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and now he will test himself against the biggest surprise of the tournament.

Thanasi Kokkinakis is currently №175 in the ATP rankings. He turned pro just five years ago. He’s 21-years old and now he made the whole tennis world talk about him. Him and Fernando Verdasco have never faced each other until now.
