Barcelona – Liverpool
Barcelona hosts Liverpool in a first 1/2-final game from the Champions League on Wednesday night. Let’s discuss this spectacle at the Camp Nou and take a look at these two sides.
During the weekend Barcelona officially won the title in La Liga, which now allows them to concentrate entirely on the Champions League. Before the start of the season Lionel Messi promised this trophy to the fans and you can be sure that now he wants to fullfil this promise.
In the 1/4-finals Barca did the job against another English team, kicking out Manchester United from the competiton. The Catalans didn’t face any problems against the Red Devils, scoring four goals in David De Gea’s net for the two games. So far it’s an almost perfect season for Barcelona, who are still fighting for three trophies at the end of the season.
Barcelona’s manager Ernesto Valverde has the luck to rely on a full squad for this match. All of his stars are healthy and ready for this fight.
Liverpool are trying to reach the Champions League final for a second consecutive year. In 2018 Jurgen Klopp led his team to the big final, but the Reds suffered a defeat against Real Madrid. The English side is aiming to win the competition for a first time since 2005, when the famous “miracle in Istanbul” happened against AC Milan.
Unlike Barca, Liverpool are still concentrated on their fight in the Premier League as well. Now the manager Jurgen Klopp has the job to keep his players’ focus on both competitions, because every single mistake against Barca could be fatal. The bad news for the Reds is the injury of Roberto Firmino, who could miss the first leg at the Camp Nou.
That’s our views on the Champions League 1/2-finals first leg between Barcelona and Liverpool at the Camp Nou. Good luck with this one, pals!
