The Turkish Fenerbahce Dogus Istanbul celebrated a 63-80 victory during the visit to Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade in a match from the 28th round of the Euroleague.
The fans in the Serbian capital created a majestic atmosphere in the hall, but the Turkish team performed better and enjoyed the win.
Fenerbahce impressed with their long-range shooting in the match and this win assured them a home-court advantage during the playoffs. This was Fenerbahce’s 11th win in their last 13 matches, which once again proves that the Istanbul giants are in a terrific form lately. They are currently enjoying a 20-8 record in the group stage, being at second place.
Crvena Zvezda on the other hand are already eliminated from the competition with a record of 11 wins and 17 defeats. The Serbians had hopes that they will qualify for the playoffs before the start of the group stage, but this is definetely not their best year in the Euroleague.
Fenerbahce scored 14 times from the three points zone, which is a huge reason for their success in Belgrade. 7 of these 14 three pointers was scored by Ali Muhammed, who played a terrific game in Belgrade. He scored 25 points, which is a season high for him. Nikola Kalinic followed with 10 points, while Jan Vesely and Marko Guduric added 9 points each.
For Crvena Zvezda the most effective player on the pitch was Dejan Davidovac, who scored 18 points for the home team. But his efforts was not enough for the Serbians to avoid losing. The second best scoring player for Crvena Zvezda was Dylan Ennis, who finished the match with 10 points. Ognjen Dobric added 7 more points for the home team.
CSKA Moscow is the only team ahead of Fenerbahce in the Euroleague standings, while Olympiakos follow on third place.
