Bologna – Atalanta

Bologna hosts Atalanta in a match from the 11th round of the Italian Serie A. Here are our thoughts about this game.

Bologna are currently 17th in the Serie A standings, being just 3 points above Empoli and the relegation zone in the Calcio. The Rossoblu have 9 points won so far and a record of 2 wins, 3 draws and 5 defeats. In their last five matches Bologna won just once – against Udinese.

In their last match Bologna made a 2-2 draw during the visit to Sassuolo. Rodrigo Palacio and Ibrahima M’baye scored for the Rossoblu, but their goals were not enough for the win. The visiting team was very close to clinch the win, but Sassuolo equalized with a late penalty kick, executed well by Kevin-Prince Boateng.

Atalanta on the other hand are 14th in the Serie A with 12 points, which is kind of dissapointing. In the last two seasons Atalanta are very solid in the league, but now the team from Bergamo had a tough start of the new campaign. But maybe things are changing now, because Gian Piero Gasperini’s team won its last two matches against Chievo and Parma.

It was a very good day for the team against Parma. Atalanta enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 win at home, thanks to goals from Jose Palomino and Gianluca Mancini, while Parma’s Riccardo Gagliolo scored himself an own goal.

It’d be curious to see if Atalanta can make it three in a row against Bologna. It won’t be easy away from home, but certainly this team have much more potential than they are showing.

Federico Mattiello is missing the game for Bologna with an injury, while Atalanta can’t use the injured Andrea Masiello and Marco Varnier.

That’s what we are thinking about the Serie A clash between Bologna and Atalanta. Good luck!
