Everton – Arsenal
. Everton hosts Arsenal at the Goodison Park in a game from the 18th round of the Premier League. This match is going to be played on Saturday, let’s have a look.
Everton are unbeaten since the sacking of Marco Silva and since the club legend Duncan Ferguson was appointed as a caretaker. Ferguson surprised a lot of people and debuted with a win against Chelsea at home, which was followed by a draw against Manchester United at the Old Trafford. These four points won from two difficult games were impressive.
Last weekend Everton visited Manchester United at the Theatre of Dreams and secured a point after a 1-1 draw. United’s Victor Lindelof scored himself an own goal in the first half, while in the 77th minute the wonderkid Mason Greenwood scored an equalising goal after an assist from Daniel James. This result was dissapointing for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and pretty good for Duncan Ferguson and his players.
At this moment Everton are 16th in the Premier League standings with 18 points, just three points above the relegation zone.
Most likely in this game Arsenal are going to be managed by a new coach – Mikel Arteta. The young Spanish tactician will replace the caretaker Fredrik Ljungberg who was coaching the team since the sacking of Unai Emery.
For Mikel Arteta this is going to be a first job as a manager. In the last few years he was gaining precious knowledge from Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola, working as his assistant.
Arsenal really need to step up now. The Gunners are now 10th in the table with 22 points and they have won just five of their 17 games this season. It won’t be easy for Arteta to revive the team, that’s for sure.
Can Mikel Arteta debut with a win for Arsenal, if he arrives on time to manage the team against Everton? That’s a good question. If he’s appointed at time, Arsenal are going to be managed once again by Freddie Ljungberg.
