Jagiellonia Białystok hosts Górnik Zabrze in a match from the 2nd round of the Polish Ekstraklasa.

Jagiellonia started the new season in the best way possible – with a win. They have won with 1-0 their visit to Nieciecza, which allowed them to enjoy a perfect start of the new campaign. The hero in the first match of the new season was called Lukasz Sekulski. The striker scored with a penalty kick which was awarded just two minutes after the halftime break.

Meanwhile Górnik Zabrze also enjoyed a winning start of the new campaign. They faced the champion Legia Warszawa and won with 3-1 at home. The Spanish attacker Angulo scored twice for Górnik and another Spaniard – Dani Suarez, also added one goal for the win.

Last season Jagiellonia Białystok finished the regular season at first place, but during the playoffs they lost the title to Legia. Now everyone at Jagiellonia wants to fix the mistake and this time to celebrate with the championship trophy. The team started according to the plan – with a win, but it’s a still very long road ahead.

As for Górnik Zabrze, they are one of the newcomers in the Ekstraklasa this season. But we shall applaud them for the way they started their season in the Polish elite – with beating the champion! This is a good sign for everything we could expect from them this season, but it’s still too early to judge. We shall wait and see.

It’s absolutely understandable why Jagiellonia Białystok are the favourites in this game. They finished the regular season in 2016/17 at first place and they have more experience in the elite division. Plus, they are playing at home ground. But the win Górnik achieved against the reigning champions must be a red lamp for everyone in Białystok.
