Freiburg faces Werder Bremen
Freiburg faces Werder Bremen at the Schwarzwald-Stadion in a fixture from the 27th round of the Bundesliga. Both teams didn’t win their first game after the restart of the season, so now they will look for a better performance than last week.
Freiburg can be satisfied with their performance last week as they won a point at a very difficult ground. Christian Streich’s team visited RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena and went home with a point after a 1-1 draw. Vincenzo Grifo assisted to Manuel Gulde for the visitors, but after all RB Leipzig secured a point with an equalising goal from Yussuf Poulsen.
Freiburg won just one point in their last game, but it actually helped them improve their position in the league. They are now 7th in the league with 37 points, which leaves them just two points behind Wolfsburg and the Top 6. Maybe nobody really expected such a good season by Freiburg, but they are really doing well.
Werder Bremen remain in a critical situation. They are in the relegation zone of the Bundesliga, being 17th with just 18 points won. If they don’t find a way to change the way they perform, they will be playing in the 2. Bundesliga next season.
On Monday Werder had a chance to move closer to salvation, but they suffered a heavy 1-4 defeat at home against Bayer Leverkusen. Theodor Gebre Selassie’s goal for the hosts was far, far from enough for them to deal with their opponents.
Despite of Werder’s awful performance the manager Florian Kohfeldt is still at the job, trying to ressurect his team from the dead. This could be his last chance to prove that he’s the right man for the job.
That’s our preview for the Bundesliga game between Freiburg and Werder Bremen on Saturday. Can Werder change their fortune and bring some hope to the fans?
