Football News : Germany – Cameroon

The world champion Germany faces Cameroon in Sochi in a game from Group B of the Confederations Cup in Russia.

Germany are currently second in the group, having the same amount of points as Chile. The South American team have better stats, though, which allows them to occupy the first place in the group.

As for Cameroon, the Africans are currently on the last place in the group, having just one point won during the 1-1 draw with Australia. Their only chance of qualifying for the semifinals is beating Germany with a huge goal difference. But does anybody really believes that this is possible?

Germany’s manager Joachim Low kept the tradition to call young and unexperienced players for the Confederations Cup. Although the world champions are not with their best squad in Russia, they are among the big favourites to win the tournament. But before trying to reach the final, they have to assure that they will reach the next phase of the competition.

In their last game Germany made a 1-1 draw with the other favourite in the group – Chile. Alexis Sanchez gave the Chileans advantage, but Lars Stindl leveled the result just a few minutes before the half-time.

As for Cameroon, in their last game against Australia they won their first point in the competition. Franck Zambo Anguissa scored for the Africans, but Mark Milligan’s strike for Australia didn’t allow Cameroon to win the clash.

It’s hard to think that Cameroon could actually beat Germany, but with the Germans being in a very experimental squad for the competition, nothing is impossible.

Germany on the other hand should chase a win with a bigger margin, if they want to surpass Chile and win the group. In the same time Chile will play against Australia with the same goal in mind – winning the group.
