Inter Milan – Barcelona
Inter Milan faces Barcelona at the Stadio San Siro in one of the great Champions League derbies on Tuesday. Barca already won this group, while Inter are playing for reaching the 1/8-finals. Let’s take a look.
With 11 points won and four points ahead of Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona already won the group. This gives the manager Ernesto Valverde the opportunity to rest some of his stars on Tuesday, giving a shot to some other players. It’s still not clear if Valverde will rotate the team and how much he’s going to do it, so we should wait and see.
Barca officially won the group in the previous game when they enjoyed a solid 3-1 win at home against Borussia Dortmund. Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann scored for Los Cules. Except of scoring twice, Leo Messi also made two assists for the other two goals.
On Tuesday Ernesto Valverde has the opportunity to rotate the team. Players like Samuel Umtiti, Moussa Wague, Arturo Vidal, Carles Alena, Carles Perez and Ansu Fati could feature in the game. In their last game in La Liga Barcelona beat Mallorca with 5-2 at home, while Leo Messi scored a hattrick.
Inter Milan are holding their destiny in their hands. The Nerazzurri will qualify to the 1/8-finals if they win, no matter what will happen between Borussia Dortmund and Slavia Praha in the other game. In the previous round of the group Inter faced Slavia in Prague and secured a very important 3-1 win. Lautaro Martinez scored a brace for the 2010 champions, while Romelu Lukaku added one more for the win.
Inter Milan are having a great chance to beat Barcelona and secure their place at the 1/8-finals. They are aware that the Catalans could not approach this game on one hundred percent, because they already won the group. That’s a great opportunity.
