Levante – Espanyol
Levante welcomes Espanyol in a match from the 27th round of the Spanish La Liga.
Levante are in a troubled situation right now. The club from Valencia is 17th in the La Liga standings, being on par with the 18th Las Palmas – both clubs have 20 points. Levante’s record since the beginning of the season shows just 3 wins, 11 draws and 12 defeats. Alongside Malaga, Levante are the team with the less wins achieved since the start of the campaign.
In their last five games Levante are showing a terrible form once again. They made a 2-2 draw with Real Madrid a month ago, but it was followed by four consecutive defeats. Now Levante are very close to find themselves in the relegation zone of La Liga once again.
In their last game Levante suffered a 0-1 defeat during the visit to Deportivo Alaves, which was another dissapointment for the club’s fans.
Meanwhile Espanyol are 13th in La Liga with 31 points. It’s hard to say that this season has been very impressive for the Catalan side, but they are at least safe enough from relegation. Espanyol are playing like a typical midtable team this season and let’s be honest – they are not much better than this.
Espanyol’s record so far shows 7 wins, 10 draws and 9 defeats. In their last five games the Los Pericos made four consecutive draws, before stopping this run with an impressive 1-0 win over the champion Real Madrid.
Espanyol’s performance against Real Madrid shall inspire the team to be even better in the coming weeks. Against Levante Espanyol will have a great chance to improve even more. Wins like this one usually bring a lot of confidence.
We can say that this game looks more important to Levante than it is to Espanyol. Levante are in a serious need for points.
