Milan – Juventus
Milan versus Juventus is one of the big classics of Italian football, so everytime these two giants meet at the pitch it’s a huge event. It’s going to be the same case on Thursday when Milan will host Juventus at the San Siro in a first 1/2-finals game from the Coppa Italia.
It’s a difficult time for Milan and everyone knows it. The club is struggling to reach greatness again and except of the Italian Super Cup, Milan have not won a trophy since 2011. That’s a long time for a club which have been champion of Europe seven times in its history.
The arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in January brought some enthusiasm in Milan’s dressing room and the team made some good results, but on Sunday the Rossoneri had to suffer another dissapointing result. They had a clear lead of two goals against Inter in the Derby della Madonina, thanks to Ante Rebic and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’ goals, but in the second half Inter scored four goals and won.
What it’s up to the manager Stefano Pioli now is to work with his team on a psychological level and raise the players’ spirit after the loss on Sunday.
Juventus are also approaching this game after a defeat. The Serie A champions travelled to Verona in the weekend and opened the score, but at the end they got defeated by Hellas Verona. This allowed Inter Milan to to return on the top of the league again, which really dissapointed Juventus’ tifosi. Now the manager Maurizio Sarri is in a similar position to his colleague Stefano Pioli – he must help his players forget what happened during the weekend.
We expect a fun game between Milan and Juventus on Thursday. We think that it will be second leg in Turin which is going to decide this Coppa Italia tie, but there are going to be some emotions at the San Siro, too.
