Schalke – Werder Bremen

Schalke 04 continue their free falling with four losses and no wins in their last five matches. Despite of this, club’s owner stated that Schalke continues to trust David Wagner to turn things around. The truth is Wagner started well in his first season with the Royal Blues, but with time the way his team performs changed for the worst.

On Wednesday Schalke 04 suffered their third consecutive defeat since the league got started again. The Royal Blues paid a visit to Fortuna Dusseldorf and suffered a 1-2 loss. Schalke actually opened the score with a goal from Weston McKennie, but Fortuna turned the game around with goals from Rouwen Hennings and Kenan Karaman.

For the last time Schalke 04 won in January when they recorded a win over Borussia M’gladbach at the Veltins Arena.

Werder Bremen on the other hand are starting to improve. In their last two matches Werder won four points. Their win over Freiburg was followed by a 0-0 draw at home against Borussia M’gladbach. Despite of these four points, Werder remain in the relegation zone with 22 points won.

Werder have some problems before this visit to Gelsenkirchen. Milos Veljkovic is suspended, while Pizarro, Fullkrug, Mohwald and Toprak are injured.

Meanwhile Schalke 04’s manager David Wagner can’t use the injured Suat Serdar and Amine Harit who are missing the home game on Saturday.
