Sevilla – Borussia Dortmund

Europa League winners Sevilla host Borussia Dortmund at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in a first leg from the Champions League 1/8-finals. Stay with us because we will provide you with a preview for this game. Let’s get to work!

Sevilla lost the fight with Chelsea for the first place in their group, but they had some luck during the draw for the 1/8-finals. We don’t mean that Borussia Dortmund are a weak side, but the Spanish side clearly had some tougher options ahead.

What’s impressive about Sevilla is their current shape. Julen Lopetegui’s team is enjoying a terrific run of 8 consecutive wins in all competitions. Last week they beat Barcelona in Copa del Rey while few days ago they enjoyed a 1-0 win over Huesca in La Liga. Sevilla are in a terrific shape at the moment. We can see that from their results.

Borussia Dortmund won their Champions League group after finishing three points ahead of Lazio at the top of the standings. The German side lost just once in these six matches and showed some good consistency.

What’s different about Dortmund is the fact that Lucien Favre is no long the manager. The Swiss coach was replaced by Edin Terzic because of inconsistent results. The biggest problem is that Terzic’ results are not much better than Favre’s – Die Borussen won just one of their last seven matches in all competitions. This leads us to the question – was it even necessary to sack Lucien Favre in such way?

In their last match Borussia Dortmund faced Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, but only won a point after a 2-2 draw.

That’s the preview for the Champions League 1/8-finals game between Sevilla and Borussia Dortmund in the Andalusian capital. We expect a great game with many goals here. Let’s hope we won’t get dissapointed.
