Slavia Praha – Chelsea

After eliminating Sevilla from the competition, can Slavia Praha do another heroic performance in Europa League? This is the question we ask ourselves before the game in Prague between Slavia and Chelsea. This is a match from the 1/4-finals of the competition. Let’s take a look at it.

Slavia Praha are the pleasant surprise in the competition so far. During the 1/8-finals the Czech time made a really impressive performance, eliminating one of the favourites for the trophy – Sevilla. In the first game in Andalusa Slavia fought for a brave 2-2 draw, which gave them good chances for the second leg.

In Prague the game ended with exactly the same result. This led to an extra time, where the match ended with a 4-3 win for the home side. It was one of the most historical nights in Slavia Praha’s history. The hero of the night was Ibrahim Traore, who scored the winning goal for the Czech side in the 119th minute of the game.

But now for Slavia it won’t be easier against Chelsea. Many consider the English side as a big favourite of winning the trophy. And let’s admit – there are many reasons for that.

Chelsea showed how good they are during the 1/8-finals, when they scored 8 goals against Dynamo Kyiv in two games. After a 3-0 win in London, Maurizio Sarri’s boys enjoyed themselves in Kiev, winning the second leg with 5-0. The world champion Olivier Giroud had a great night, scoring a hattrick.

Chelsea are aware that winning Europa League this season is important. This could be their ticket to the Champions League, if they don’t finish in Top 4 in the Premier League. As for Slavia Praha, for them it’s going to be a great experience to play against such a big side as the Blues.
