Johanna Konta from Great Britain against Karolina Pliskova from the Czech Republic and Heather Watson from Great Britain against Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark – these are the semifinals in the Aegon International tennis tournament in Eastbourne.

The fans in Eastbourne surely love the fact that two players from Great Britain reached the final stages of the competitions. Johanna Konta started with a bye in the first round and she was merciless in the second, beating the Romanian Sorana Cirstea with 6-2 6-2. In the next round Konta had some more problems against Roland Garros winner Jelena Ostapenko, but she managed to defeat the new tennis star with 7-5 3-6 6-4. Johanna Konta managed to reach the semifinals after defeating the №1 seed Angelique Kerber from Germany with 6-3 6-4.

Meanwhile Karolina Pliskova also had a bye in the first round of the competition. In the second one she defeated the American Alison Riske in two sets – 6-3 6-4. To reach the 1/4-finals she beat Shuai Peng from China – 7-6 6-4. In the 1/4-finals Pliskova had to meet the experienced veteran Svetlana Kuznetsova from Russia. It was a tough battle, but Pliskova managed to win with 6-7 6-2 6-4.

In the other semifinal we will see a battle between Heather Watson and Caroline Wozniacki.

Heather Watson brought some real joy to the British fans in Eastbourne, by being merciless in the tournament so far. She recorded wins against Lesia Tsurenko, Elise Mertens and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. During the 1/4-finals Watson had a tough test against Barbora Strycova, but she defeated her with 6-1 1-6 6-4.

Meanwhile the №6 seed Caroline Wozniacki is also perfect in the tournament so far. She had a bye in the first round and in the second she defeated the Japanese Naomi Osaka with 6-2 7-6. In the next round she won against Elena Vesnina with 6-1 6-2, meeting the Roland Garros finalist Simona Halep in the 1/4-finals. Just as expected, it was a great match which was won by Wozniacki with 5-7 6-4 6-1.
